Use a staging copy with a configurable product and a promotion. Place a test order, pay through a sandbox, change stock, partially refund it, and generate an invoice. Compare totals and customer notifications in a candidate. Import a small history sample and check variant links, images, URLs, and order statuses. Test checkout on mobile and record the time required to update a product.
Do not schedule a cutover based only on a catalog import. Preserve the old store and read-only access to its order history until support staff can answer real customer questions in the new system.
