An object ETag is not a universal content checksum. In particular, an S3 multipart upload's ETag need not equal the MD5 of the complete file; AWS documents dedicated integrity-checking mechanisms.
For an S3 integration, select an appropriate supported checksum and verify it according to the upload mode. Test the same file with single-part and multipart uploads before wiring an ETag comparison into your corruption detector.
