A backend platform decision is really a decision about data access and operations. Supabase combines Postgres with services such as Auth and Storage. A quick table demo cannot prove that an application is safe to launch.
Build a pilot with public, private, and team-owned records. Write row-level security policies and test every role from the client, including a user who must be denied access. Exercise signup, token refresh, file upload, and deleting an account. Measure query performance with representative data and watch database connection limits.
Export schema and data, rehearse restore, and document how you would move storage objects and authentication records. Compare managed cost, self-hosting effort, and support expectations. Keep the existing backend until the pilot survives a permission audit and an actual recovery drill.
