Advice Slip can return the same random advice twice without being broken

A “new advice” button should not promise a unique result on every click. The Advice Slip API documentation says random advice is cached for two seconds, so rapid requests can return the same slip.

For the Advice Slip directory entry, distinguish a repeated valid response from a network failure. Test the button within and beyond the documented cache interval, and keep its loading state clear. Treat the returned text as light content, not authoritative personal guidance.
