Making barcode values reliable in the real scanner

Choose the exact identifier your system expects and the barcode format that can encode it. Preserve leading zeros, case, and required punctuation; “cleanup” can accidentally change an ID.

Print human-readable text beneath the code for manual checks. Test a sample at its final size with the actual scanner and application before printing a batch. Verify the decoded value, not just whether the scanner beeps.
