Choosing resize or compression for an image

Resizing reduces pixel dimensions; compression changes how the image data is stored and may change quality or file size. Start with the actual requirement: display dimensions, upload limit, or transfer speed.

If the image is much larger than it will ever appear, resize a copy. If dimensions are right but the file is heavy, compare export formats and compression settings. Inspect fine text, transparency, and color after export; keep the original untouched.
