Before-and-after JSON review: record expected paths

Before opening a JSON Diff, list the paths that should change. Compare the old and new documents, then inspect every difference outside that list. For each expected path, verify both value and type, and check whether arrays changed order. If the tool ignores object key order, that may be fine; if it ignores missing versus null, it may hide a meaningful change. Finally validate the new document against the consuming schema.
