To evaluate a color change, measure the same component and state before and after: identical font size, weight, opacity, theme, and background. Save both color pairs and ratios. A brighter foreground may improve one state while worsening another, so check hover, focus, and disabled appearances separately. Also inspect the visual hierarchy; a technically passing ratio is not the whole usability story. The comparison is meaningful only when the rendered context stays constant.
