Pilot FreeIPA with a few test users and hosts. Enroll a machine, grant access through a group, verify login and sudo policy, then revoke the user and confirm access disappears. Test DNS and certificate dependencies if they are part of your intended deployment.
Identity infrastructure is a critical service. Rehearse replication or restore, administrative recovery, and an upgrade in staging. Keep a break-glass access route independent of the directory. A successful first login is only the beginning of the operational test.
