In Spider Solitaire, revealing face-down cards and creating empty columns usually increases your options. Same-suit sequences are easier to move and eventually clear, so avoid mixing suits without a reason.
Before dealing a new row, inspect whether useful moves remain and whether an empty column could help rearrange a run. A legal move that hides a low card under a mixed sequence may cost more than it gains. The one-, two-, and four-suit versions have different levels of uncertainty; compare decisions within the version you play.
Review a loss from the first move that reduced flexibility.
