After compressing a PDF, compare the output with the source in a separate viewer. Check small text, diagrams, screenshots, signatures, and any image where artifacts would matter. Verify page count, links, searchable text, forms, and file size. A smaller file is not automatically better if it blurs critical detail or rasterizes text. Keep the original and label the compressed copy clearly so the higher-quality source is not accidentally overwritten.
