For MariaDB alternatives, migrate a copy of the application's real schema and queries.

• Verify data types, collations, constraints, stored routines, and JSON behavior.
• Compare transaction isolation and concurrent writes under expected load.
• Test replication, backup, point-in-time recovery, and failover.
• Run application migrations and inspect ORM or driver compatibility.
• Export data back to a portable format before changing production.

A successful bulk import does not prove equivalent results or recovery. Document each semantic mismatch while rollback is still easy.
