For the ExchangeRate-API entry, use the authentication pattern documented for the chosen service rather than mixing it with a similarly named provider.
ExchangeRate-API's guide allows a Bearer header instead of a key embedded in the URL, with the URL's key segment removed accordingly. URL-based credentials can otherwise be copied into ordinary request logs and diagnostics.
Test the resulting path and header together, and redact credentials regardless of where they are carried. Keep the separate no-key service distinct from the authenticated endpoint.
For the Exchange Rates API entry, note that exchangeratesapi.io is a different provider from ExchangeRate-API despite the similar names.
Its documentation describes the response timestamp as the data collection time and uses EUR as the default base, with base changes dependent on the subscription.
Display the actual rate context rather than stamping the response with the time the interface loaded. Test the configured base and freshness handling before using the values in a converter.
For the eWeLink API entry, respect the account's region when choosing the API host.
CoolKit's official reference documents error 10004 for an account belonging to another region and provides region information for selecting the appropriate server.
Handle that response explicitly instead of retrying the same login against the same host. Keep the documented regional mapping separate from arbitrary redirects, and test the flow without issuing commands to real devices.
For the Eventbrite entry, distinguish organization-specific access from a global public event search.
Eventbrite's official API notice states that the public Event Search endpoint shut down on December 12, 2019. An old /events/search/ example should not be presented as a current integration path.
Define whose events the application is authorized to access and use the corresponding supported API. Do not imply that a successful organization listing provides a replacement contract for searching every organizer's public events.
For the Eurostat Data entry, retain more than the query URL when an analysis must be reproducible.
Eurostat's API introduction explains that its database provides the latest dataset versions rather than a historical version archive. Repeating a query later may therefore retrieve revised data.
Save the retrieval time, dataset identifier, dimensions, units, and the actual data used. Keep revisions distinguishable from a code change when a previously calculated result no longer matches.
Older Etsy examples may fail for a reason unrelated to the user's authorization. Since February 9, 2026, Etsy requires x-api-key to contain the keystring and shared secret separated by a colon. Calls requiring OAuth still need their OAuth credentials and appropriate scopes. See the official request requirements.
Use the Etsy directory entry to discuss which operation is failing, then check the application header and user authorization separately. Keep the shared secret on the server; copying a formerly public-key-only example into browser code is not a safe migration.
Etherscan's V1 API was retired after August 15, 2025. Current integrations should use the V2 API, explicitly select the intended chainid, and use an Etherscan API key. An old explorer-specific key is not automatically a substitute. See the retirement notice and V2 documentation.
In the Etherscan discussion, include the network when describing a result. Compare a known transaction on that same network before moving a production workload; a syntactically valid address does not establish which chain's history you requested.
ESP-IDF Docs is a reference for Espressif's embedded development framework, not a hosted REST service requiring an API key. Start with the project's target chip and installed ESP-IDF version, then select the corresponding documentation.
Espressif distinguishes development documentation from stable releases in its version guide. An example from another release or chip can lead to misleading build errors.
When asking for help, share the target, framework version, relevant configuration, and the first meaningful compiler error. Reduce the problem to a small example before changing the whole toolchain.
The Epic Games directory discussion should identify which Epic service an integration actually needs. Epic Online Services account authentication and game-service identity are related but not interchangeable.
Epic's Connect login guide describes exchanging an authenticated account context for a Product User ID. Do not treat that product-scoped identifier as a universal account identifier across unrelated products.
Start with the documented interface for your use case. A request observed in a storefront's browser traffic is not, by itself, a supported public API contract for a new application.
When testing ElevenLabs, follow the response contract as carefully as the request. The text-to-speech conversion endpoint returns audio; a client that unconditionally parses successful responses as JSON will mishandle a valid generation.
Choose a supported output format and pass the returned bytes to a compatible playback or storage path. Use a short, non-sensitive sentence to test the full route from request to audible output.
Keep error handling separate from successful audio handling. A saved file with the expected extension does not prove that its contents are playable audio.
A key that manages cloud resources is not necessarily a key that can search their data. For Elastic Cloud integrations, identify whether the operation targets the Cloud management API, Elasticsearch, or Kibana before choosing credentials.
Elastic's API-key documentation distinguishes these capabilities; Hosted and Serverless also have different access considerations. Check the scope for your deployment type rather than treating every Elastic endpoint as one authority.
Test the smallest read operation against the intended endpoint first. Do not expand a key's permissions merely because a credential for the wrong API was rejected.
Food-search input is often ambiguous. In an Edamam Food integration, do not assume that every successful response contains a usable first item in parsed.
Edamam's Food Database documentation describes parsed and hints; an input that cannot be parsed can still produce candidates in hints. Let the user clarify or select an appropriate match instead of silently inventing a quantity or choosing an unrelated food.
Test a simple ingredient, an ambiguous description, and an unrecognized phrase. Show which item and measure the application actually selected before using them in a calculation.
A custom storefront enhancement can run too early even when the browser's document is ready. For Ecwid Widget work, distinguish Ecwid's page lifecycle events from the host page's initial load.
The official page-event guide distinguishes OnPageLoad from OnPageLoaded; the latter is the relevant point when the storefront page has finished loading.
Test navigation between a category and a product without a full browser refresh. Make repeated callbacks safe, so revisiting a page does not add duplicate controls or attach the same listener again.
Do not assume an Ecwid request has a harmless test-mode switch. The official first-request guide says the API has no test mode and recommends a separate store for testing.
For the Ecwid API discussion, distinguish the REST integration's secret access token from a public storefront token. Keep privileged credentials server-side and verify the store ID before any write.
Start with reading a known test product, then make a reversible change in that separate store. Confirm both the returned resource and the visible result before connecting the integration to a live catalog.
The current ecobee developer page says it is not accepting new developer registrations. A new project should not assume it can obtain a fresh API key merely by following an older tutorial.
Use the ecobee Thermostat discussion to distinguish access questions from failures in an already authorized integration. The registration restriction does not, on its own, establish that every existing integration has stopped working.
For an existing setup, begin with a read-only check of the intended device. Avoid changing schedules or temperatures simply to prove that a connection exists.
An eBay listing number from another workflow is not automatically the REST item ID expected by the Browse API. In the eBay integration discussion, name the identifier's source and whether the listing has variations.
eBay's inventory discovery guide explains the distinction and the getItemByLegacyId path for resolving legacy identifiers.
Test a listing with more than one selectable variation, then confirm that the returned item matches the intended selection. Do not silently substitute the first variation when the integration lacks enough information to choose one.
An EasyPost integration should expect repeated delivery of a webhook event. Store the event identity and make downstream actions safe to repeat rather than treating every HTTP delivery as a new shipment update.
EasyPost's webhook guide requires a successful response within seven seconds. Validate the request, durably accept it, and move slower work to a separate processing path instead of holding the connection open for notifications or other external calls.
Test a duplicate event and a worker interruption. An acknowledged event still needs a reliable route to completed processing.
A bank-to-bank payment can involve more than one transfer leg. For Dwolla ACH integrations, retain the related transfer links and follow the journey from its source to its intended destination.
Dwolla's transfer lifecycle guide distinguishes the meaning of processed for a bank destination from a Dwolla balance destination. Do not turn one leg's status into an unsupported claim that the recipient has usable funds.
Build the application's customer-facing state from the documented lifecycle, including failures and returns. Use the sandbox to rehearse transitions before allowing them to trigger fulfillment.
For supported requests in a Dwolla integration, retrying an uncertain operation requires the same idempotency key and identical request body. Dwolla's idempotency documentation states that keys expire after 24 hours; a retry while the original request is processing can return a conflict.
Store your application's operation record before sending the request, including its stable business identity. Do not generate a fresh key simply because the connection timed out.
Reconcile the existing operation before retrying outside the documented window. API-level idempotency does not replace your own durable protection against duplicate business actions.
A private integration for your own Drip account and a public integration for other customers should not collect credentials in the same way. Drip's authentication guide documents a private API token as the HTTP Basic username with an empty password, and OAuth for public integrations.
In the Drip API discussion, state which type of application you are building before troubleshooting authentication. Keep private tokens on the server and out of support examples.
Start with a read-only operation against the intended account. Testing a connection should not accidentally enroll real contacts in a messaging workflow.
Salesloft announced a gradual sunset of Drift in its March 2026 partnership notice. The Drift directory discussion should therefore focus on existing integrations and transition planning, rather than assuming an ordinary new-product onboarding path.
Inventory the conversations, routing rules, embedded code, and downstream integrations your organization depends on. Confirm the applicable timetable and export options with the provider for your account; the announcement alone should not be turned into an invented universal shutdown date.
Rehearse the replacement's handoff to a person and verify that required historical records remain accessible.
A Dribbble integration should not assume every collection fits in its first response. The v2 documentation describes pagination through the Link header; some endpoints do not honor a requested per_page value.
Follow the supplied next-page URL and stop when no next link remains. Test with an account whose collection spans multiple pages before calling an export complete.
An old URL can fail even when the Domoticz server is healthy. The current API guide documents the replacement of older RType requests with command-based forms such as type=command¶m=getdevices.
In the Domoticz JSON discussion, include the installed version and start with a read-only device query. Do not use a switch or thermostat command simply to test connectivity.
For the Dog CEO API, decide whether the interface needs one image or a collection. The random-image documentation distinguishes those requests and caps a multiple-image response at 50.
Normalize the response deliberately before rendering. Let a failed image load show a useful fallback without discarding the other results; receiving a URL and displaying its image are separate steps.
The Dog API entry refers to TheDogAPI, not Dog CEO. Its image examples include an empty breeds array and document filters for requesting breed-associated images.
Handle missing breed metadata before reading the first array element. If your application promises a breed description, request the appropriate data and still provide a sensible fallback rather than inventing a label from the filename.
