Check what format the receiving app accepts before converting. A compressed format can be convenient for sharing; a lossless or uncompressed format may be preferable for editing when the source quality supports it.
Keep the original, then convert one copy with the audio converter. Listen to the exported file, check its length, channels, volume, and whether metadata matters. Converting an already lossy recording to a larger lossless file does not restore lost detail. Avoid repeated lossy conversions when one final export will do.
Trim unwanted sections before export if duration is the main problem.
