An upscaler can make a small image look smoother or larger, but it cannot recover information that was never captured. It may invent texture, distort letters, or change facial details. Use the highest-quality original you can find before trying image upscaling.
Compare the output with the source at the size it will actually be used. Inspect edges, text, logos, faces, and repeating patterns. For evidence, documents, or identification, do not treat enhanced details as facts. Keep the source file for comparison and choose the least aggressive result that meets the display need.
A better source usually beats a stronger upscale.
