Battleship

Place your fleet and hunt the enemy ships in this classic naval strategy game!

About Battleship

Battleship is a classic strategy guessing game that originated as a pencil-and-paper game during World War I. Milton Bradley published it as a board game in 1967, and it has since become one of the world's most popular two-player games. Players take turns calling shots on a grid, trying to locate and sink their opponent's hidden fleet of warships.

How to Play

First, place your 5 ships on the grid by clicking. Press R to rotate between horizontal and vertical. Once placed, the battle begins. Click cells on the enemy grid to fire shots. Red marks indicate hits, gray marks indicate misses. The AI fires back each turn. Sink all 5 enemy ships before yours are destroyed to win!

Tips & Strategies

  • Use a checkerboard pattern when searching — it ensures you can find all ship sizes efficiently.
  • When you score a hit, try the four adjacent cells to determine the ship's orientation.
  • Once you know a ship's direction, follow it until you sink it completely.
  • Spread your ships around the board during placement — clustering makes them easier to find.
  • Keep track of which ship sizes remain — if only the 2-cell ship is left, focus on unexplored pairs.
