For DigitalOcean automation, keep the action identifier returned by an asynchronous operation. The Actions API reference distinguishes in-progress, completed, and errored states.
Wait for a terminal outcome before starting work that depends on the requested change. Report failures separately from timeouts in your own polling process; losing contact with the API does not establish that the remote action failed.
