- Create a small test server with public and private channels, representative roles, and moderation permissions.
- Check invitation, onboarding, notification behavior, file limits, search, and mobile accessibility.
- Rebuild one integration or bot and verify that its permissions are no broader than necessary.
- Export a sample of messages and attachments; note what cannot be transferred, including links and identity mappings.
- Run both spaces briefly, publish a cutover date, and keep a read-only archive if the platform permits it.
Success means participants can find the right people and context after the move. A feature checklist alone cannot show that.
