Start a whiteboard with one question and leave space for a few broad clusters. Give each cluster a short heading, use the same color or symbol for the same meaning, and connect only relationships that matter.
As the board grows, move resolved notes to a separate area instead of letting old ideas compete with current ones. Summarize decisions in plain text so the board is not the only record of what happened. Before sharing, zoom out: can someone identify the question, major options, and current conclusion without a guided tour?
A tidy layout helps, but the goal is shared understanding, not decoration.
