Watermarking an image without obscuring it

Place a watermark where it remains visible across light and dark areas but does not cover the subject or important text. Test at the size viewers will see, not only at full resolution.

Save a watermarked copy and retain the original. A watermark can discourage casual reuse, but it does not guarantee ownership protection or prevent cropping. For a batch, use consistent placement while checking images with different compositions.

What part of the image must stay unobstructed?
