- Trigger safe file-integrity changes and known test log events.
- Verify collection latency, host context, rule explanation, and alert routing.
- Measure false positives during routine updates and package installs.
- Test agent outage, reconnection, and historical event retention.
- Export findings into the incident process and rehearse a response.
A larger rule library is not useful if alerts cannot be triaged. Document detection coverage and the person responsible for each alert class.
