Sonic Pi is most compelling when code changes become audible quickly. Compare it with music tools using a short performance, not a static feature matrix.
Write a beat with two independent loops, a melody, and one parameter that changes live. Make an intentional syntax error and recover during playback. Record the output and reopen the source on another computer. The Sonic Pi site and tutorial describe the live-coding model; test the version and audio device you will actually use.
If the aim is education, measure how easily beginners understand timing and errors. If the aim is performance, test latency, MIDI or external routing requirements, and whether the set can be rebuilt before a show. A flexible DAW may have more editing controls, but the immediate code-to-sound loop is the key reason to choose Sonic Pi.
