Syncthing can keep folders aligned across devices, but a deletion or unwanted edit may also propagate. Evaluate it as a synchronization system and design a separate recovery path.
Start with a non-critical folder. Pair only devices you control, choose the correct send/receive direction, then edit the same file while one device is offline. Reconnect and inspect conflict behavior. Folder types and file versioning affect what happens to replaced or deleted files; test them on the receiving device rather than assuming an archive exists everywhere.
Measure performance on your real file sizes and network, including the first scan and a large rename. Decide which files should be excluded, and keep an independent, restorable backup. A good migration test ends with deliberately restoring a deleted file and proving that all devices end in the state you expect.
