When an action deadline changes after a meeting, do more than edit the date in a document. Identify the affected action, confirm the new date with its owner, and check whether dependent decisions or deliveries also move. Preserve the original date in the change record so readers can understand why the plan changed.
Send the updated action list to attendees who rely on it. Distinguish a changed deadline from a missed one: a deadline should not be moved retroactively to make an overdue task appear on time. If the new date threatens a larger milestone, mark the risk and name who will decide whether to rescope. Meeting notes are useful only if the current commitments are visible and attributable.
