Pocketbase

PocketBase combines collections, authentication, file handling, and realtime events. For PocketBase alternatives, rebuild a small application rather than comparing database screens.

1. Create a base collection and an auth collection with separate access rules.
2. Test reads and writes as anonymous, ordinary, and administrative users.
3. Subscribe to record changes; verify reconnect behavior and permission enforcement.
4. Upload a file, change the schema, back up the data, and restore into a clean instance.
5. Compare hosting, extension points, SDK support, and export path.

The critical question is whether the alternative preserves your application's security rules and recovery process, not just its data rows.
