Put a staging service behind Caddy with a real test domain, TLS, redirects, and the headers your application needs. Verify certificate issuance and renewal behavior, WebSocket or long-lived requests if applicable, and what users see when the upstream app stops.
A simple configuration still needs version control and observability. Test reload and rollback of a bad config, and document where logs and certificates live. The right proxy is the one operators can diagnose at 3 a.m., not merely configure quickly.
