Telepresence lets a local process communicate with or intercept traffic for a Kubernetes workload. A replacement should be tried in a shared staging cluster where other developers are active.
Connect, intercept a single test service, and route only requests carrying a test header to the laptop. Confirm ordinary staging traffic still reaches the deployed pod. Restart the laptop process, lose network briefly, and disconnect; verify that traffic recovers. Review RBAC and environment exposure before granting access. Telepresence's security reference explains why intercept rights can expose workload environment values.
Measure setup time, latency, and cleanup. The tool passes only when a developer can debug locally without hijacking teammates' requests or broadening access to secrets.
