Choosing from the e-commerce API directory requires more than a successful product-list request. Inventory, checkout, payment, refunds, and fulfillment can disagree if their update rules are unclear.

Sandbox scenario

1. Create a product with variants, tax rules, shipping options, and a limited stock count.
2. Place two near-simultaneous test orders; inspect inventory reservations and oversell behavior.
3. Retry a timed-out order request using an idempotency key and check for duplicate charges.
4. Process cancellation, partial refund, and webhook redelivery. Reconcile each event against the final order state.
5. Check personally identifiable data handling, payment boundaries, API quotas, and export capability.

Record which system is authoritative for price, stock, and order status. Without that ownership map, a fast integration can still lose or duplicate orders.
