Keep readable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as the source of truth. Minify a copy during your build or release process, one change at a time, and compare the page before and after in the browsers you support.
Test interactions, responsive layouts, and accessibility behavior—not just whether the page opens. JavaScript minification can expose assumptions about names or ordering; HTML and CSS minification can alter whitespace or selectors. Keep source maps where appropriate so production errors can be traced back to readable code.
Use the relevant HTML, CSS, or JavaScript minifier on non-sensitive examples. If the original is broken, minification will not repair it.
