Rock Paper Scissors

The ultimate game of chance! Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock.

About Rock Paper Scissors

Rock Paper Scissors is a simple yet engaging hand game played worldwide, dating back to the Han Dynasty in China (around 200 BC). Two players simultaneously form one of three shapes: rock (fist), paper (flat hand), or scissors (two fingers). Despite appearing to be pure chance, competitive players use psychology and pattern recognition to gain an edge.

How to Play

Click one of the three options: Rock, Paper, or Scissors. The computer will make its choice simultaneously. Rock crushes scissors, scissors cuts paper, and paper covers rock. Play in sets of best-of-3, best-of-5, or best-of-7 rounds. The first player to win the majority of rounds wins the set. Build your winning streak across multiple sets!

Tips & Strategies

  • Rock is the most commonly chosen option by beginners — use paper to counter inexperienced opponents.
  • After losing a round, people tend to switch to whatever would have beaten them — anticipate this pattern.
  • Winners tend to repeat their winning choice — if you just lost, consider what beats their last move.
  • Against a random computer opponent, every choice has an equal chance — just have fun!
  • In longer sets, try to notice if the computer has any subtle patterns you can exploit.
