A JSON formatter changes whitespace so nested data is easier to read. A syntax validator checks whether the text follows JSON grammar, such as quoted keys and no trailing commas. A schema validator goes further: it checks whether parsed values have the fields, types, and constraints an application expects.
A practical sequence is to parse the input, fix syntax errors, format it, then validate against the consuming API’s contract or JSON Schema. Compare with an actual accepted example when possible. Valid JSON like {"count":"five"} may still fail if the API requires a number. Conversely, a pretty-printed file can remain semantically wrong. Do not paste tokens or private records into a tool until you understand its processing and retention behavior.
Use the JSON formatter and JSON validator for their distinct roles.
