Choosing from the e-commerce API directory requires more than a successful product-list request. Inventory, checkout, payment, refunds, and fulfillment can disagree if their update rules are unclear.
Sandbox scenario
- Create a product with variants, tax rules, shipping options, and a limited stock count.
- Place two near-simultaneous test orders; inspect inventory reservations and oversell behavior.
- Retry a timed-out order request using an idempotency key and check for duplicate charges.
- Process cancellation, partial refund, and webhook redelivery. Reconcile each event against the final order state.
- Check personally identifiable data handling, payment boundaries, API quotas, and export capability.
Record which system is authoritative for price, stock, and order status. Without that ownership map, a fast integration can still lose or duplicate orders.
