Work on a copy of pasted text. Trim stray spaces at line ends and fix unintended double spaces, but check whether line breaks, indentation, or repeated spaces carry meaning in code, Markdown, or tables.
Compare the cleaned copy with the original before using it in a form. Unicode spaces and nonbreaking spaces can look ordinary while behaving differently. If the text must match byte-for-byte, do not normalize it casually.
