Under a deadline, count the exact text that will be pasted or submitted, not an earlier draft. Include spaces, punctuation, and line breaks, and test the destination field if possible. If the text contains emoji or complex Unicode, leave extra room unless the platform's counting rule is known. Trim filler rather than essential information when close to the limit. A green counter in one editor does not guarantee another platform will accept it.
