Compare original and compressed images at identical display dimensions. Record byte sizes, formats, dimensions, and compression settings; then inspect fine detail, gradients, transparency, and color. If the output was resized too, separate the effects of fewer pixels from compression artifacts. Open the exported file in another viewer, since an editor preview may not show the same result. A credible comparison states the space saved and any visible tradeoff.
