For a minimal PDF-to-text test, select a harmless page containing the layout feature that fails: a table, multi-column block, ligature, footnote, or scanned image. Extract it and compare its reading order and characters with the rendered page. Keep enough context to show whether a heading belongs before a paragraph. A plain one-line sample will not reveal a column-order bug. Share the original sample only after checking it for private text and metadata.
