Name the task, required features, budget or time limit, platform, and one tradeoff you are willing to make. State how you will judge the answer: “Which option handles a 500-page PDF offline and preserves annotations?” is testable.
Tell responders whether you need one best fit, a shortlist, or a comparison. Mention what you already tried and why it fell short. Avoid broad “best tool?” wording; without criteria, every answer can be both right and wrong.
After trying a suggestion, report which requirement it met or failed.
