Photo editors can render the same RAW file differently. For RawTherapee alternatives, use a small set that includes high ISO, difficult highlights, skin tones, and your camera's newest format.
Editing test
- Apply white balance, highlight recovery, noise reduction, lens correction, and sharpening.
- Compare output at full resolution, not just fit-to-screen previews.
- Check batch processing, sidecar metadata, color profiles, and export settings.
- Reopen edits after moving the project to another machine.
- Note which adjustments cannot migrate; preserve original RAW files and finished exports.
Do not judge a replacement on a single preset. Repeat your ordinary editing sequence and compare the time and final output.
