Try gitui in a throwaway repository containing unstaged edits, a conflicted merge, and several branches. Stage individual changes, inspect a diff, commit, and resolve the conflict. After each operation, compare git status and the commit graph with what the interface showed.
A terminal UI is useful when it reduces repeated commands without obscuring Git's model. Keep recovery commands close at hand for rebases and resets. Prefer a workflow that remains understandable when something goes wrong over one that merely makes the happy path fast.
