Puzzle
Tangram
Slide, rotate, and flip the seven classic tans to perfectly fill each silhouette in this timeless shape puzzle!
About Tangram
Tangram is an ancient Chinese dissection puzzle made of seven flat pieces called tans — five triangles, one square, and one parallelogram — that fit together to form shapes. The goal is to arrange all seven tans to perfectly fill a given outlined silhouette without any overlap.
How to Play
Select a tan, then slide, rotate, or flip it into place to fill the outlined silhouette. Every piece must be used and none may overlap. Solve as many silhouettes as you can to complete the set.
Tips & Strategies
- Place the two large triangles first — they cover the most area and anchor the rest of the solution.
- Align the straight edges of the tans with the corners and edges of the silhouette.
- Remember the parallelogram can be flipped — it is the only piece that sometimes needs reflecting.
- Work from the outer edges inward and save the smallest triangles for last.
- If you get stuck, rotate a piece in 45-degree steps — many solutions depend on one diagonal placement.
